 Pastor's Profile

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel John Essiet was born and raised in Nigeria in a family of nine children, four brothers and five sisters (two of his sisters have passed on).
Fr. Emmanuel had his basic education as well as Seminary formation in Nigeria.  After four years of philosophical studies (1994 -1998) and another four years of Theological studies (1998 - 2002), he was ordained to the priesthood in the Catholic Diocese of Aba, Nigeria, in 2002.  After one and a half years of priestly ministry in the Diocese of Aba, Nigeria, Fr. Emmanuel was sent to Rome for further studies at the Pontifical Lateran University where he obtained Licentiate in Canon and Civil Laws in 2008, and in 2016, he obtained doctorate degrees in Canon and Civil Laws from the same Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

Fr. Emmanuel is not a bookworm.  He has had some pastoral assignments including being Parochial Vicar at St. Jude’s Parish, Ohuru in Aba Diocese, Nigeria (2002-2004); Pastor of Regina della Pace Parish in Celano, Avezzano Diocese, Italy (2009 – 2013); Pastor at Ss. Giovanni e Paolo Parish in Cerchio, Avezzano Diocese, Italy (2013 – 2019).  While still serving as Pastor in the Parish, Fr. Emmanuel was given additional responsibilities as Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Avezzano (2015 -2019) and Assistant Chancellor of the same Diocese (2016 – 2019).

In September 2019, Fr. Emmanuel was accepted to work as a Judge at the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Miami, U.S.A.  On May 20, 2024, Fr. Emmanuel was appointed Administrator of Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in Miami, FL. (effective June 17, 2024).  At the same time, he was appointed the Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Miami (effective July 1, 2024).

Fr. Emmanuel is deeply grateful to God for the call the priesthood in the Catholic Church and for the privilege to serve in the above-mentioned capacities over the years. He is equally thankful to all, especially his parents, who have helped him to answer the call and carry out his God given mission thus far.  He relies totally on God, and the continued support and prayers of all, so that the good work God started in him might be brought to a fruitful completion.
Ad Majorem Gloriam Dei!
